The Champlain Valley Fair celebrates products that are Made in Vermont. In the Home Crafts Department, 250 exhibitors are selling their wares, including Christmas decorations, doll clothes, and quilts.
The fair pockets 22 percent of the proceeds to fund the area in the Blue Ribbon Pavilion. Even though traffic through the fair has been slow because of the heat, the craft area has been busy because it's air conditioned.
"I have a lot of people say they just want things that are Made in Vermont. They want to buy local. They know that 95 percent-- more than 95 percent-- of my crafters are from Vermont," said Michele Arcovitch, the Home Crafts Superintendent.
Arcovitch is expecting even bigger crowds over the weekend since the forecast calls for cooler temperatures. The Home Crafts area tends to sell around $70,000 in Made in Vermont merchandise.
