Ian Oliver grew up in the small coastal town of Westport, Mass., tracking nor'easters (and praying for snow days).
Ian knew he wanted to be a TV meteorologist at a very young age and it was his love of winter weather that brought him to Vermont. He graduated from Lyndon State College with academic honors, a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology and a minor in Classical Physics. He was a four-year student-athlete and is a former captain and goalkeeper of the men's soccer team. Ian enjoyed participating in as many intramural sports as his studies would allow. As an avid skier, he was a frequent visitor to both the local Burke Mountain and Jay Peak ski areas.
Ian joined the WCAX Weather Team in January 2010. He enjoys the challenge of fulfilling many responsibilities around the Channel 3 newsroom including doing the weather on Wednesday evenings and weekend mornings, reporting the weather out in the field and news reporting. His favorite assignment here at Channel 3 is filming weekly "Skiin' With Ian" skiing and riding segments during the winter.
After spending more than 5 years here in the North Country, Ian feels at home here in Vermont. In his spare time, he enjoys recreational sports, fishing, working out and is admittedly a gadget-geek. Ian is an avid Boston sports fan and appreciates the good times, as well as the trials and tribulations that come with it.
