Joshua Lemieux
Rutland, Vermont - October 8, 2010
A Vermont State Trooper is off the job-- after being busted for allegedly driving drunk.
Shortly before midnight Thursday, Rutland City Police were called to a disturbance at the Down Town Tavern.
One man involved in the disturbance took off in a pickup truck before police arrived. Officers caught up with him at Washington and East Washington Street. They say the driver was off-duty Vermont State Trooper Joshua Lemieux, 38, of Rutland. Police say Lemieux was drunk and he refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He was arrested for DUI Refusal and has been put on paid leave.
"These allegations are disturbing and serious," Vt. State Police Col. Thomas L'Esperance said in a statement. "The Vermont State Police take DUI enforcement seriously. I am particularly concerned when a Vermont State Trooper is accused of driving under the influence."
