WOODSTOCK, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont judge has ordered the Hartford Police Department to release some records in the case of a man who was detained and pepper-sprayed by police in his home but never cited or charged with a crime.
Anne Galloway, editor of the investigative journalism web site Vtdigger.org, sued the town for the records.
On Monday, Windsor Superior Court Judge Katherine Hayes ordered the town to release any records created after police decided that the man would not be charged.
Police went to the Wilder home of Wayne Burwell on May 29 in response to a 911 call made by a visitor who said she suspected criminal activity there.
The Vermont Attorney General's office is reviewing police actions in the case.
