Fire damages Cornwall home

Cornwall, Vermont - November 13, 2010

A fast moving fire heavily damaged a home in Addison County.

Crews were called to this home on Route 30 in Cornwall around 9:30. A relative of the homeowner saw heavy smoke coming from the home.

"There was a leaking pipe going up to the furnace so fuel was dripping out of there, and by what we can see, it was prior to the fire, the fuel was leaking out," said Cornwall Fire Department 2nd Assistant Chief Sean Stearns.

Investigators say the living part of trailer suffered light smoke damage - but the area underneath the trailer sustained heavy fire damage.

After a scene investigation, the exact cause remains undetermined, however the fire is deemed suspicious at this time.

Anyone with any information concerning this fire is asked to contact the State Police in New Haven of the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program (VATAP) at 1-800-32-ARSON.
