Dubie campaign staffers to testify on campaign finance issue

Montpelier, Vermont - January 6, 2011

Five people on outgoing Vermont Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie's gubernatorial campaign staff have been ordered to testify in a campaign finance investigation.

Vermont Attorney General Bill Sorrell is looking into claims that Dubie's organization violated campaign finance law by coordinating activities and spending with the Republican Governors Association.

Judge Helen Toor ordered former campaign manager Corry Bliss, communications director Kate Duffy, treasurer Kate Mitchell and two other workers to give sworn testimony within 30 days.

She also rejected the Dubie organization's claim that Sorrell's investigation is overreaching and improper because he's a Democrat who was running for re-election when he launched the probe.
