Accused DUI murderer to stay in jail

Timothy Dowd Timothy Dowd

Burlington, Vermont - January 25, 2011

A man charged with murder for an alleged drunk driving crash will not be getting out of jail as he had hoped.

Defense attorneys for 52-year-old Timothy Dowd had asked Judge Jim Crucitti to let Dowd live at home in Hinesburg under electronic monitoring while the court case against him proceeds.

Dowd is facing second-degree murder charges for allegedly smashing into Kaye Borneman's car during a police chase through Burlington, and killing her.

Tuesday, prosecutors said Judge Crucitti ruled the suspect should stay behind bars without bail.
