St. Albans Police say they busted scrap metal thieves and the yard that bought the stolen goods.

Police say Randy Bard and Brett Elliott, both 19, and of St. Albans City, stole $2,000 worth of steel plates from the New England Central Railroad, and then sold it to Hodgdon Brothers Salvage in Swanton.

The two teens are due in court next month. The Hodgdon Brothers Salvage got three $1,000 tickets for violating Vermont scrap metal laws.
