Middlebury College biomass plant fire under investigation

Middlebury, Vermont - May 17, 2011

Fire crews are still investigating a fire in the biomass plant at Middlebury College.

Around 7 a.m. Monday, fire started in the plant's chip bag house filter system.

Middlebury and Cornwall Fire Departments were able to get the fire under control in less than two hours. No one was injured.

Officials say it's too early to know the full extent of the damage to the biomass plant. The cause has yet to be determined.

WCAX News reached out to Middlebury College multiple times but no one was willing to comment on the fire.
