LYNDON, Vt. (AP) - A prominent education expert is the keynote speaker for a regional summit set for next week in Vermont.
The Education Summit, which will be held Friday at Burke Mountain, is aimed at forming collaborative plans to help Northeast Kingdom students become college-ready.
George Mehaffy, vice president for academic leadership for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, will speak about educational transformation in perilous times.
The daylong conference, coordinated by the Patrick and Marcelle Leahy Center for Rural Students, based at Lyndon State College, is part of an effort by Lyndon State to develop a K-16 model of education linking learning and career goals with economic and community development needs.
