The former president of the Manchester Historical Society is now accused of publishing fraud.
Police say Peter Campbell-Copp tricked more than a dozen authors into giving him money. According to the Burlington Free Press, the 62-year-old publisher took money from customers to edit and publish books through his company Historical Pages, but never finished the work.
Hinesburg Community Police say the unfulfilled contracts total more than $170,000. Campbell-Copp faces numerous charges including three felony counts of false pretenses.
