Seven state champions were crowned on a busy Friday in Vermont high school sports.
At Montpelier Rec. Field, BFA-Fairfax won the Division Three baseball state title with a 4-1 win over top seed Northfield and Danville rolled to the D-4 crown with a 13-1 victory over another number one seed, Blue Mountain.
At Castleton State College, CVU and South Burlington earned Division One lacrosse state championships. The CVU boys edged Essex 8-7 in overtime, while the South Burlington girls outlasted Middlebury 12-10.
At Poultney Memorial Park, Brattleboro won a second straight D-1 softball state title with a 2-1, 9 inning win over BFA-St. Albans, and Springfield claims its first D-2 championship since 1986 with a 5-3 win over Lyndon.
At South Burlington, the top seeded Rebels posted a 6-1 win over second seed CVU to earn the Division One girls tennis state title.
