Vermont Law School professor Cheryl Hanna appeared on The :30 for our segment called Above the Law.
In this Above the Law Hanna talked about Justice Denise Johnson, who is retiring from the Vt. Supreme Court.
She also discussed free speech. Last Friday, class valedictorian Kyle Gearwar gave a speech at Fair Haven Union High School. But it wasn't the speech he wanted. That speech was cut in half by school lawyers because they didn't want him to talk about God.
Concerning schools and free speech, Hanna says this is one of the areas of the law where the courts have not been very clear, "We haven't had any guidance from the United States Supreme Court."
