Embattled South Burlington police officer sued again
Cpl. Jack O'Connor
Burlington, Vermont - June 22, 2011
A South Burlington police officer is the target of another lawsuit.
Cpl. Jack O'Connor is accused of conducting two illegal searches for drugs, violating a 25-year-old Burlington woman's civil rights. Elizabeth Ivy claims O'Connor ordered a strip search without probable cause and on another occasion entered her apartment without a warrant.
O'Connor has been criticized before for being too aggressive during drug investigations and in April was ordered to pay a former suspect more than $100,000 for keeping seized cash for too long as part of an investigation.
