60 jobs lost as Akrimax leaves North Country

Rouses Point, New York - June 28, 2011

A pharmaceutical plant in northern New York is changing hands again and more people are losing their jobs.

Three years after buying the Rouses Point plant from Wyeth, Akrimax has decided to pull out and sell the facility to Pfizer, the company that bought out Wyeth.

Sixty people will lose their jobs when Akrimax departs. Pfizer says it plans to keep the plant operating for another two years with about 300 employees.

Over 1,200 people worked at the plant when Wyeth first announced plans to close the plant back in 2005.
