UVM President Dan Fogel may leave early

Burlington, Vermont - July 19, 2011

Dan Fogel, the president of the University of Vermont, may be leaving his job a year ahead of schedule.

Sources tell WCAX News that Fogel will announce his resignation at an emergency board of trustees meeting Wednesday.

Fogel announced in March that he would be retiring as president next summer after 10 years leading UVM.

A UVM spokesperson would only say the president will make a statement about his future Wednesday. But Tuesday, UVM was informing state and community leaders that Fogel will be announcing his resignation effective at the end of the month.

The school has begun searching for a new president but wasn't expecting to choose Fogel's replacement until next spring.
