St. Albans, Vermont -- August 3, 2011
A new drug treatment facility has opened in St. Albans.
The Turning Point center celebrated its grand opening. The center offers free meeting space, help, and peer support for those dealing with alcohol and drug problems.
Governor Peter Shumlin attended the opening ceremony Tuesday. He says 50 to 60 percent of those who go to jail for drug and alcohol-related addictions end up back behind bars within three years. It also costs $47,000 to keep someone in jail.
There are 11 Turning Point locations around the state.
