Shopping in West Lebanon has come to a standstill after the Connecticut River spilled its banks overnight.

The Upper Valley Plaza and the Kmart Plaza in West Lebanon were completely shut down Monday.

Officials say the Connecticut River crested at around 3 a.m. Monday and completely flooded most of the stores on the west side of 12A.

Police and fire officials were on the scene Monday surveying damage.

"We are working with the various property managers to make sure that there are no hazardous conditions for anyone to be in the buildings. We've have some property managers that have hired some people to go through and do some recovery. At this stage, the Upper Valley Plaza is going to be closed indefinitely. Kmart plaza, we are still getting all the information as far as when we can open in back up," Lebanon Fire Inspector Jon Paul said.

Lebanon officials say anyone with questions should contact their local police or fire departments.
