No word yet on would-be robber's cause of death

Vergennes, Vermont - September 30, 2011

Police still don't know what caused the death of a Vergennes woman who attempted to rob a convenience store early Wednesday morning.

The medical examiner's office says the cause and manner of the death of Yemalla Sprauve, 34, is still pending.

Police say Sprauve attempted to hold up the Champlain Farms in Vergennes at knifepoint. The male clerk on duty wrestled the knife from the would-be robber and then restrained her until police arrived. Sprauve died on the way to the hospital.

Police say they will not comment on her death until they've receive a full report, including toxicology results, from the medical examiner. We're told that could take several weeks.
