CASTLETON, Vt. - Norwich scored 21 first quarter points on the way to a 40-21 win over Castleton Saturday. The victory over their in-state rival means the Cadets hold onto the Maple-Sap Bucket for a third straight year.
Norwich Quarterback Kris Sabourin had three rushing touchdowns and ran for 229 yards. His longest score came on a 90 yard run in the first quarter. The Spartans got a six yard touchdown run in the second quarter from Tyler Carpenter for their only first half score. Castleton outscored Norwich 14-3 in the second half, but the Cadets 30 point halftime lead was just too much to overcome.
Norwich improves to 3-0 in the ECFC while Castleton drops to 1-2 in the conference. The Cadets take on Gallaudet next Saturday while the Spartans travel to Becker College.
