Vt Supreme Court to hear Brooke Bennett case

Braintree, Vermont -- October 13, 2011

The Vermont supreme court will hear arguments next week related to the Brooke Bennett case.

The 12-year-old Braintree girl was found dead three years ago. Her uncle Michael Jacques is charged with her murder.

But A lawsuit against Jacques' wife has held up proceedings. Denise Woodard is the target of a wrongful death lawsuit.

Bennett's father claims Woodard breached her duty of care by failing to warn others that Jacques is a convicted sex offender.

Woodard denies the allegations. The high court will take up the matter next week.
