Burlington, Vermont - October 17, 2011

A Burlington murder suspect will go to trial.

Daniel Whalon, 25, is accused of fatally stabbing his neighbor Ralph Bell, 54. Police say the two men had an intimate relationship.

Defense lawyers had questioned whether Whalon was competent to stand trial and considered a mental evaluation. They withdrew that request Monday.

Whalon could receive life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder.
