VYO and former maestro settle dispute

Colchester, Vermont - October 24, 2011

The Vermont Youth Orchestra has settled a dispute with its former conductor.

Ronald Braunstein was fired in January after months of turmoil. The VYO said Braunstein skipped rehearsals, lacked leadership, and made inappropriate comments and inappropriate contact with teenage musicians.

Braunstein sued the VYO claiming his conduct was the result of bipolar disorder. Now the dispute has been resolved. The VYO concedes Braunstein was effected by his bipolar condition and the organization applauds his performance. For his part, Braunstein has dropped his lawsuit and offered praise to the VYO. The statement makes no mention of a financial settlement.
