Cross Country State Championships

THETFORD, Vt. - Six team and six individual state titles were handed out Saturday, the first championships of the fall season.

Essex's Markie Palermo repeats as the Division I girls Individual winner, crossing first in a time of 19:15.3.  The CVU girls repeat as DI team champs.  The Redhawks had 7 of the top 11.Harwood dominated the Division II girls race.  The Highlanders win a team title led by overall individual winner Jaime Thomas.  She crosses first in 20:43.0.  Randolph gets the DIII girls team title while Richford's Elle Purrier gets the individual win.

On the boys side Mount Mansfield, is the Division I team champ while South Burlington's Malcolm Plunkett takes the individual win.  Harwood takes the DII team title as Montpelier's Daniel Grosvenor is the DII individual winner.  The host team gets a victory in the DIII boys race as Thetford's Zach Chatot crosses first in 18:04.7.  Bellows Falls wins the DIII team title thanks to a second place finish from John Punger.
