Vermont continues to have the lowest pre term birth rate in the nation.
Vermont's rate of births before 37 weeks of gestation was 9.3-percent in 2009, down two tenths from the year before. According to the March of Dimes fourth annual Premature Birth Report Card that's the best rate in the country and the organization awarded it's first ever "A" grade to Vermont.
Overall, the nation earned a "C" grade for a premature birth rate of 12.2-percent.
