Storm knocks out power

November 23, 2011

An overnight snowstorm left its mark across our region.

Several inches of heavy, wet snow fell, impacting travel for morning commuters and knocking out power in parts of Vermont.

About 12,000 Central Vermont Public Service customers lost power. Crews have been busy working to get the lights back on.

"We've mobilized crews from unaffected areas to the districts that are hardest hit, we're also bringing in outside help from Ludlow Electric, contractors from Thyro and Beemis as well as we'll be receiving help from Green Mountain Power this afternoon. So we're just going to keep flooding the affected areas. We are taking some additional outages this morning as the system moves through, but just working to restore customers as quickly as we can today," said Christine Rivers of CVPS.
