BURLINGTON, Vt. – Joe Wilson's goal with 35 seconds remaining in the second period proved to be the game-winner to lead 16th-ranked Colgate past Vermont 4-1 as the former ECAC rivals met at Gutterson Fieldhouse on Friday night in non-conference play.

Connor Brickely scored Vermont's lone goal in the first period to give the home team a 1-0 lead.

But Colgate netted a shorthanded goal just over a minute into the second period, and scored the go ahead goal with 35 seconds left in the period to take a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

The Catamounts fall to 2-8-1 (1-6-1 HEA) with the loss, while the Raiders won their third straight and improve to 9-4-1 (4-2-0 ECAC).

Vermont continues a five game homestand when the Cats host Dartmouth at Gutterson Sunday at 4pm.
