Ludlow, Vermont - December 1, 2011
"My first impression was to say no, and I did say no," said Mary Knight of Knight Tub, Pool & Spa.
At first, Knight thought it was funny when she was approached to pose for the first ever Women of Okemo Valley Calendar.
"Other people were going to be in it, she told me who they were and I'm like alright if they can do it, I can do it. So here I am," said Knight, also known as Miss February 2012.
"It was actually a lot of fun, more fun than I thought," she said.
Knight was joined by a slew of other empowered women, like insurance agents, inn keepers, and resort workers. It was organized by the Chamber of Commerce, and the proceeds of the sales will be split between the Chamber and the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure.
"Every calendar month is its own story, its own business and its own shoot," said Marji Graf of the Okemo Valley Chamber of Commerce.
No one knows that more than Amber Nye, who posed with other members of the Mount Holly Historical Museum and got some surprise visitors.
"It was right by the snowmobile trail and so we were ogled and cat called and stuff by some of the gentlemen on their sleds," Nye said.
Though the women aren't used to being in the limelight, they say they were proud to bare it all because it was for a good cause.
"I don't think that there's any woman that hasn't been affected by breast cancer," Knight said. "Really that's what it's about, so it made it easy for me to say OK, I'll do this."
Graf said she had no shortage of women who wanted to participate. In fact, she had a waiting list full of understudies
The calendars are on sale at the Chamber and at the 12 local businesses. You can also get them from the Chamber's website. They cost $20 and so far they've raised more than $8,000.
