NORTHFIELD, Vt.-- Lorna And Terry Gove were hoping for a tie Wednesday Night between the Plattsburgh and Norwich Women's Hockey Teams. That's because, they have one daughter that plays for the Cardinals, and one who plays for the Cadets. The two drove three and a half hours down from Ontario to watch the match-up at Kreitzberg Arena.
"We were excited that we'd be able to see both of them play at the same time, but of course a little nervous, a little stressful," Lorna Gove says.
Teal Gove is a junior forward for Plattsburgh, while Tyne Gove a freshman forward at Norwich. The two met in the opening faceoff off the game, and several times throughout the contest. Tyne had the game tying goal for the Cadets in the third period.
"They were both nervous," Tyne Gove said. "I don't even think she wanted to come watch, because either way she'd be happy, but she'd be upset for one of us."
The upset one happened to be Teal after her Cardinals ended up on the losing end of a 3-2 overtime game. There will be plenty of other opportunities for revenge. The two teams battle again February in Plattsburgh. Mr. and Mrs. Gove will be there.
