BURLINGTON, Vt.-- When former Catamount Tim Thomas held the Stanley Cup above his head the night of June 15th, Vermonters wished that he'd bring that silver statue here.
It took a couple months, but those dreams came true one September Saturday. Thousands lined Church street in downtown Burlington for a Parade and rally. Thomas spoke to the crowd thanking them for the support. He also reflected back on his time at UVM and how he never imagined winning the Cup, a Con Smythe Trophy (Playoff MVP) and the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goalie.
