Burlington, Vermont – January 3, 2012
One of the most common New Year's resolutions is to quit smoking, but it's still a big problem.
According to the Vermont Department of Health, In 2009 17 percent of Vermonters were hooked on smoking. In 2010, with a 2 percent drop, 15 percent of them were still regularly taking a puff. The state says an average of 850 Vermonters die each year from a smoking-related illness.
Yvonne Zeitlow with the Vt. Dept. of Health's Tobacco Control Division appeared on The :30 to talk about the support, services, and more that are available to those looking to quit the habit this year.
