Researchers in New York have identified two things that they say increase a child's risk to develop attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
They found kids exposed to gestational diabetes and raised in a low-income household are 14 times more likely to develop ADHD by age 6.
Doctors say the risk significantly increases when both circumstances exist.
Gestational diabetes, or glucose intolerance, develops during pregnancy and has been on the rise especially among minority women.
