BOSTON, Ma. -- Fenway Park became Gutterson Fieldhouse South on Friday as the UVM men's hockey program descended on the home of the Red Sox ahead of Saturday's Frozen Fenway matchup with Massachusetts.
Friday's events started with a UVM hockey alumni game in the morning that drew over fifth former players including retired NHL standout Aaron Miller and former Major League Baseball pitcher Kirk McCaskill.
Early in the afternoon, a bright sun shown down on the Fenway ice as the current Vermont men's hockey team took part in their one practice session. Coach Kevin Sneddon donned sunglasses and the players wore eye black as the team tried to get used to the surroundings.
The Cats game with UMass is part of a Hockey East doubleheader Saturday at Fenway Park. Vermont's game begins at 4pm. The nightcap featuring New Hampshire and Maine is slated to start at 7:30pm. Both games will be shown live on NESN.
