Teacher suspended for allowing student to shoot deer

St. Albans, Vermont -- January 10, 2012

A St. Albans teacher has been suspended for allowing a student to shoot a deer while in class.

It happened last month. According to the Burlington Free Press, a group of Northwest Tech students spotted the animal while visiting a school-approved job site.

Since it was muzzleloader season, a student who lives nearby was allowed to go home and get a gun to shoot the deer.

Teacher Steve Wunchsh has now been suspended without pay for six weeks. A police investigation continues.
