Fossil fuel freedom campaign launched by 350.org

Burlington, Vermont – January 17, 2012

An environmental group is getting set to launch a new campaign to combat climate change. It's called Fossil Fuel Freedom. The group is 350.org. It was started by Vermont author and activist Bill McKibben. The number represents 350 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the amount some scientists, such as James Hansen, say is the upper limit to prevent irreversible climate change. Right now CO2 levels are higher-around 392 parts per million.

David Stember is with the 350Vermont.org. He appeared on The :30 to talk about the campaign.
