Many internet companies displayed their concerns about internet piracy legislation in Congress this week, some like Wikipedia and Reddit even blacked out their sites.
The Stop Online Piracy Act or SOPA is designed to stop piracy of movies, music and other intellectual property on the internet, but critics say it goes too far and is a slippery slope toward censorship.
Amid the hubbub, Congress put the legislation on the back burner Friday.
Bill Simmon, who is the production manager at Vermont Community Access Media and a filmmaker and media educator, appeared on The :30 to talk about the concerns of that proposed bill and what caused all the commotion.
