VERNON, Vt. (AP) - Hundreds of people gathered in an elementary school gymnasium to honor a 15-year-old Vermont boy who was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train near the school.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports Eric Pratt of Vernon was remembered Saturday for his guitar-playing skills and ability to make people laugh.
Eric was struck Jan. 15 on a private railroad crossing near the Vernon Elementary School.
Many people knew Eric through his father, Mike Pratt, who is a volunteer with the fire department and was 1 of the first on the scene the night of the accident.
