Dementia is when memory loss
starts to interfere with daily life. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia. It is the most common type of dementia. Alzheimer's disease
does not have a known cause, prevention, or cure.
Alzheimer's is a progressive
disease currently impacting about 11,000 Vermonters. The Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer's
Association predicts that number will increase. By 2025, they expected that there
will be 13,000 Vermonters living with Alzheimer's.
On The :30 talk more about the
disease—and a fundraiser to fight it—is Martha Richardson, the Executive
Director of the Vermont Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, and Jared Poor
with the Camel's Hump Challenge benefit event.
