Vt. police say Route 2 crash claims 2nd victim

January 27, 2012

MIDDLESEX, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a second person has died from injuries suffered in a crash on U.S. Route 2 in Middlesex earlier this month.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the Jan. 2 crash.

Police said that Billy Joe Avery, 23, of Waterbury, died Friday at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.

The driver of the car Avery was riding in, Stephanie Myette, 21, of Montpelier, died later that day.

Police say Myette lost control of the car she was driving and it went into the path of an oncoming car.

Two other people in her car suffered lesser injuries. The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries.
