Former Trinity College president Candon dies

Sister Elizabeth Candon has died.

Candon died Wednesday at her home in South Burlington. She was 90 years old.

Candon was a former president of Trinity College in Burlington, where she also taught English. She served as Vermont's secretary of human services in the 1970s under Governor Richard Snelling.

She also served on numerous boards throughout the state, including Middlebury College.

Candon grew up on a dairy farm in Pittsford. She was one of 11 children.
