Manufacturing in Vermont and in the rest of the U.S. remains an important economic engine. Many of us may think of it as a shrinking industry that's only growing in places like China with lower operating costs. However, much has changed in Vermont and in the rest of the U.S. since earlier generations, where even low-skilled workers could find good wages in manufacturing. Patricia Giavara is with the Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center, a group that helps ensure that manufacturing remains viable and adapts to the ever-changing demands of global economics. She appeared on The :30 to talk about manufacturing in Vermont.
