RUTLAND, Vt. -
Top marks for Rutland High School.
The school was recognized by Solution Tree, a publishing company with a focus on education. It recognizes schools that promote collaboration among teachers in order to offer a better learning experience for students of all abilities. Rutland High has been working with the program for four years. Evidence of improved student achievement is what won them the award.
"It's really just a way of doing business. It's a way of working that involves teachers collaborating together. We have many talented teachers in this building but their work together is that much more effective than working as individuals. When teachers take the time to work together, collaborate together, look at student work together, the students in the end are benefiting," said Glenn Olson, the school's Associate Principal.
Rutland is one of 200 schools in the U.S. and Canada to receive the recognition.
