NORWICH, Vt. -
A multimillion dollar construction project in Norwich is moving along.
King Arthur Flour is consolidating its operations.
The 30,000-square-foot facility will house the store, cooking school, and commercial operations.
Up to 50 contract workers are on the job site during the 14-month project.
Company officials say the recent downturn in the economy has actually been somewhat of benefit for the business.
"We have been really lucky to keep having good problems with growth that take solutions like this behind us. The good thing about an economic downturn is that people bake at home more, so we've seen more people baking at home, wanting to learn home to make their own bread and make their own treats and things like that rather than going out to the store and buying them," said Steve Cochran of King Arthur Flour.
The $10 million project is expected to be complete this July.
About a dozen new jobs will be added once the new facility opens.
