"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island"
Luis Guzman
WILLISTON, Vt. -
"Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" opens Friday at a theater near you. And it stars a Vermonter.
Luis Guzman, who lives in the Northeast Kingdom town of Sutton, plays a helicopter pilot in the film.
Guzman appeared live on the Channel 3 News at 6 p.m. from the movie's premier at the Majestic 10 in Williston.
"The movie is about an adventure to a mysterious island," Guzman said. "I kinda guess it said that all in the title, but I play this helicopter pilot. I take these guys on a tour and like I said, we're off on a pretty amazing adventure."
The movie is family friendly, unlike some of Guzman's previous films. And that's not all: "This is my first movie in 3-D, so obviously I am looking three times better now," he said with a laugh.
The special screening Wednesday night will help Vermont kids in need.
"I'm having a screening here tonight at the Majestic Theater here in Williston and basically we were able to organize a food drive for the Spectrum Youth Services here in Burlington and also the Northeast Kingdom Youth Services program," Guzman explained. "You know, I try to do as many different charity and fundraising events for different kinds of nonprofits and this is for homeless young people in the area and we had a great turnout tonight. So we accomplished our mission."
