BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Burlington's new school dinner program is expanding to more schools in the district.
Last month, the city began offering an afternoon meal to students participating in the after-school programs at the two elementary schools in the Old North End. The free meal is meant to ensure that lower income students are getting enough to eat.
Now, the city is expanding the program to the three schools in the New North End.
School officials say the program is federally-funded and does not require local taxpayer support.
