LEBANON, N.H. -
One man is dead after a fiery plane crash at the Lebanon Municipal Airport in New Hampshire.
Investigators say the pilot was killed. He was the only person on board the small, single-engine aircraft.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the plane is registered to a private owner in Petersborough, N.H., but officials could not confirm that the pilot and the owner of the plane are the same person.
The NTSB says the plane took off from another airport and touched down in Lebanon to refuel. But shortly after taking off again, the pilot asked to return to the runway. At this time it's unclear why the pilot made that request and officials say it was on that second return that the plane crashed about 500 yards from the runway.
No one was on the runway or in the grass strip where the plane crash, so no one else was injured.
NTSB investigators are expected to arrive Friday at 8 a.m.
