According to police, the blaze broke out just after 9 last night in the basement of the Winding Brook Lodge. Multiple area departments responded.
Officials say 25 to 30 people where staying at the lodge at the time of the fire, but they were able to make it our without injuries.
Stowe Fire Chief, Mark Sgantas told us Saturday, "They had heard some popping in the basement. We haven't confirmed what the cause was. They actually did have a fire downstairs extended into the wall."
"Just getting the extenuation trying to get everything out. We'll go in and take a look and hopefully figure out what happened and where it happened. " He adds.
Fire investigators with the state were called in. At this point, they say the cause of the fire is undetermined, but it is not considered suspicious. The lodge sustained approximately $200 thousand dollars in damage.
