BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Burlington council members plan to dig into the annual audit of the city's books.
The analysis covers city revenue and expenses through June of last year.
Combined, all of Burlington's funds during that period ended 10-million dollars in the black. But the report says the surplus should not be used until other issues are resolved.
City councilor Ed Adrian looked over the report and has some questions for tomorrow's finance meeting.
"If the auditor's aren't there and the council's not satisfied with the answers we're getting from the administration we could very well have a special work session to ask questions of the auditors themselves," Adrian said.
Adrian says he's concerned that the report ignored what could be a 33-million dollar debt to CitiGroup. The bank has sued the city for failure to make payments on Burlington Telecom.
