Vt AG sues Dubie, RGA over campaign

Posted: Updated:

The Vermont attorney general is suing former gubernatorial candidate Brian Dubie and the Republican Governors Association.

According to the Rutland Herald, Bill Sorrell, D-Vt. Attorney General, accuses Dubie's campaign of sharing $93,000 worth of polling data with the RGA. The AG's case against the Republicans is the result of a complaint from Vermont Democrats alleging illegal coordination between the two groups.

An attorney for Dubie has asked the court to dismiss the case.

The Republican Governors Association suggested Sorrell-- a Democrat-- was motivated by politics. Sorrell told the newspaper partisanship played no role, adding his office has also gone after Democrats for violating campaign laws.
