Former Gov: Fight over Vt. Yankee is nothing new

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Vermonters are still waiting to find out if Bill Sorrell, D-Vt. Attorney General, will appeal after the state lost its federal court case against Entergy, the company that owns Yankee.

The judge ruled the state does not have the power to shut down the plant for safety reasons. The case currently sits with the attorney general. The deadline to appeal is a week from today.

Gov. Peter Shumlin, D-Vermont, says the plant should shut down.

Former Vermont Governor Madeleine Kunin says this is not the first time a Vermont governor has gone up against the plant. She appeared on The :30 to discuss the issue.
